1830- Indian Removal act signed.
1831- Supreme Court declares Cherokee an independent nation subject to its own law and Georgia must not buy Cherokee land.
1834- A treaty signed by a Cherokee leader granted U.S. the right to the land but the treaty considered invalid by the tribe.
1838- the Trail of Tears, a forced march of the Cherokee to the west by the government.
