2 Industry History America has been modifying the heating and cooling equipment for over 100 years. In Minneapolis in 1914 the first home was air conditioned. It was owned by Charles Gates who was the son of notorious gambler John "Bet a Million" Gates. After WWII air conditioning allowed commercial sky scrapers be built without any structural changes to allow air to flow in. The first cooling apparatus on record was made by American physician Dr. John Gorrie of Apalachicola, Florida. In the 1830s Dr. Gorrie designed a machine that in essence was a fan which blew across a container of ice for cooling hospital rooms

3 Industry Overview The HAVAC industry focuses on buying, selling, and distributing heating , ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment. This industry correlates with the rate of the economy. When the economy is at a high more buildings are be built and more in home renovations are occurring. For instance : in 2009 the residential market bottomed out causing the HAVAC industry to take a loss as well. It is predicted that in the next five years the line of recovery will increase with the demand for commercial building construction and private spending.

4 New Regulations New regulations are not passed often, but all contractors need to be up to date with any regulations passed and they must be familiar with their region. There are 3 regions: North, South, and Southwest.

5 Industry Development and Recent News
HAVAC industry is a seasonal industry. Each company has begun to become more eco-friendly as a way to save more money. Equipment has also become more computer savvy with weather sensors and customer preference setting. The industry has also begun to venture over to geothermal energy and solar powered energy.

The HAVAC industry work mostly with construction companies as partners such as; Shell, ExxonMobil, or St. Joseph Hospital. They also are contacted by homeowners and business owners to do updated on their buildings.

8 Competitor Information
In the wholesale industry there isn't many competitors. Each company depends on construction markets and rise of income to maintain productivity It is predicted the HAVAC industry will reach an all time high in the summer of 2017.
