Welcome to the National Capital Bible Church 1

2 Chafer Theological Seminary Annual 2017 Pastors’ Conference
Definition of Inerrancy: Since the Bible’s ultimate Author is God, it is without error and is our authoritative guide in all matters. The International Council on Biblical Inerrancy in its Chicago statement stated: “Scripture is without error or fault in all its teaching.” Let’s examine the CTS statement of Faith for some definitions

3 Revelation: The written content of the Bible was revealed by God in order to unveil Himself and His eternal plan to men. Inspiration: Through inspiration, God moving holy men to write, the Lord made certain that His revelation about Himself was recorded without error in the original documents. Every facet of Scripture (including statements re science, history, and geography) is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21). Authority: Since the Bible’s ultimate Author is God it is without error and is our authoritative guide—the Supreme court—in all matters of faith and practice (Ps 119: 142, 151, 160; Pro 30:5; 2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Pet 1:2-3; 2:20-21; John 16:12-15; 17:17).

4 Canonicity: The canon of Scripture is a closed collection of writings, consisting of all writings and only those writings inspired by God. The 39 books of the Hebrew OT and the 27 books of the Greek NT contain the whole canon of Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16; Jude 3; Revelation 22:18-22). Because Scripture is God’s only written revelation to men, it is our sole source of infallible guidance for faith and practice. We do not accept the apocryphal books as canonical (Matthew 5:17-18; cp. Revelation 22:18-19; Jude 3). Interpretation: We believe in a normal (literal), grammatical and historical interpretation of Scripture that affirms, for example, the belief that the opening chapters of Genesis present creation in seven literal, 24-hour days (Genesis 1:31; Exodus 31:17).

5 Sufficiency: Scripture states that it is able to equip us for every good work. In addition, the Lord states that He has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the body of knowledge wherein His great and precious promises are recorded. Therefore, we believe that the Bible alone, as one applies it to his life, is a sufficient resource to prepare the believer to handle all the problems and exigencies of life and ministry (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:3-11).

6 James 2:5, Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and to be heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? Working Translation: Listen (pay attention), my fellow bels, God has chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith and to be heirs of the kingdom, which He promised to those loving Him, has He not? (hasn’t He?) (Yes, He has!)

7 The Doctrine of Heirship (Inheritance)
1. Heir – “one who receives something as a possession, a beneficiary.” 2. The LJC is the Heir of all things (Heb 1:2; Ps 2:8-9; Dan 7:13-14). 3. Bels are heirs based on redemption (Col 1:12-13; Eph 1:7, 11). 4. The indwelling of GHS is a down-payment and guarantee of the bels inheritance (Eph 1:13-14; 2 Cor 1:21; 5:5). 5. Our inheritance is secure forever (1 Pet 1:3-5). 6. The faithful bel will rec/pos the inheritance (Heb 6:12; 1 Pet 3:9). 7. A bel can lose inheritance (1 Cor 6:9-10; Gal 5:19-21; Eph 5:5).
