2 We SEE with our BRAIN… our eyes ONLY capture images!
PROCESS of VISION is a three step process: The 20/20 part or SIGHT (glasses don’t fix all) The visual pathway which delivers the image from the eye to the brain Area in the brain (visual cortex) that is responsible for interpreting or giving meaning to the images captured by the eye 

3 Provide direct services to help students USE their vision.
Tracking, locating, movement, size, distance, fields, fixating, shift of gaze Provide direct services to help students USE their vision. Work with student to determine what and how much they are using their vision with a variety of activities and encourage them to use their vision during that activity.

4 Provide consultation services to teachers/staff
Help teacher with strategies to encourage and promote visual attention according to specific diagnosis during daily routine. Examples include: Placement of student during circle time Reflective eating utensil Non-cluttered background Lighting conditions

5 Provide instruction in compensatory skills
This is learning through other senses such as listening and touching.

6 Provide instruction in:
Literacy Social skills Adaptive devices Concept development Technology Pre-braille/braille readiness (if needed)

7 Orientation & Mobility
Provide follow through of O&M instruction and skills. Promote communication with our O&M specialist between students and staff.

8 Other To-Dos: Provide the teachers, staff, and family of students with visual impairments with information regarding their needs and strategies to enhance the child’s independence. Interpret eye reports  Participate in team assessments for students with visual impairments
