2 Session Objectives Participants will gain an understanding of the Second-Year Transformational Experience Program and how it operates in relation to service-learning. Participants will experience activities that are a part of a 3-part reflection series workshop designed at Ohio State. Participants will gain an understanding of the facilitator training and evaluation process that is part of the reflection series workshop design. Ola

3 Overview of STEP Weekly interaction with faculty outside of the classroom Engagement with co-curricular programs across campus Completion of financial literacy online module & in-person coaching session with trained peer facilitator Exploration of six categories of transformational experiences including study abroad, internships, community service, undergraduate research, leadership, and creative and artistic endeavors Creation of written proposal for how they will utilize up to $2000 in STEP fellowship to support their experience Vicki

4 STEP Signature Project in Community Service/Service Learning
A service project that addresses an identified need within a community An academic component that will allow you to complete a reflection process. This can take place in one of the following ways: Participating in the STEP Reflection Series; three 90-minute workshops that will help you explore and reflect on your STEP experience.. Taking a service-learning class that is explicitly related to the social issue or community that your experience will involve. An independent study on a topic related to your STEP proposal as facilitated by a faculty member A plan to evaluate and share the results of your STEP project Claire

Vicki – discuss development of series by highlighting parts of handout, and then all 3 of us can have participants experience a taste of a few activities.
