3. Heating Water Solar thermal systems
Starts with collector: absorbs radiation, turns it into heat
Heat carrying liquid: carries heat to the hot water tank
Tubes: when need of hot water, carries to needed area

4. Producing Energy Photovoltaic systems: more complicated
Electric charges – made when sun shines on the solar panel
Electric currents – can be used around the house
Positively charged layer of silicon against negatively charged layer of silicon: lets the electric charges pass through
Conductive metal: concentrates charges into electric currents

5. Heating Spaces Can be classified as two modes – passive, active
No mechanical equipment
Lets all the sunlight possible go inside
Traps heat
Active
Uses special equipment – e.g.: like boxes covered with glass
Air passes through the heated places
