13 All forms of energy can be transformed
All forms of energy can be transformed. This means energy can change from one kind to another. . .

14 Energy is similar to a fairy tale in which there is a transformation. . .

15 Here’s one example. . . And then she becomes a frog too!
In the Princess and the frog, the princess kisses the frog. . .

16 How many fairy tale transformations can you name?

17 Discuss the following situations with your elbow partner. . .

18 Question: Can you identify the energy BEFORE and AFTER the transformation?

19 Electrical Light + Heat

20 Chemical Motion + Heat

21 Energy Transformation Cards With your partner
Energy Transformation Cards With your partner. . . match the energy pictures with the energy transformations

22 Let’s See How You Did!

23 Electrical Heat + Light

24 Chemical Motion

25 Light Electrical

26 Chemical Light

27 Light Chemical

28 Motion Electrical

29 Chemical Light + Heat

30 Motion Sound

31 All energy can be divided into TWO types. . .
Potential “Stored Energy” Energy that has not been used. . .YET Kinetic “Active Energy” Energy where something IS happening. . .NOW

32 ENERGY Kinetic Potential Sound Heat Elastic Nuclear Electrical Light
Gravitational Chemical Motion

33 How about in this example?
Potential Chemical Energy which has been stored in the battery is now being converted into Kinetic Light Energy Which is now traveling from the flashlight (it is DOING something!)

34 The opposite can also happen. . .
Kinetic Light Energy Which is traveling (active) from the Sun to the plant can be converted into. . . Potential Chemical Energy which will now be stored (waiting to be used) in the plant as sugar. . .
