1 Minerals & Bones By: Tyler Hillman

2 Types of Minerals Important to Bone Health
Calcium: This mineral makes up 85% of your body especially with bones and teeth making Calcium a very important mineral in strengthening bone health and structure. Calcium is plenty of foods and drink such as Milk. Phosphorus: A small bit of phosphorus is in every cell in your body like for example your bones and teeth, like calcium it is also important in bone health and structure, Phosphorus is in soft drinks and food additives. Magnesium: This mineral collaborates with Phosphorus and Calcium to improve the health of bones and teeth. Magnesium may also work with Potassium to keep blood from becoming too acidic. Magnesium is found in everyday fruits and vegetables such as bananas, apples, green beans and potatoes.

3 Types of Minerals (Cont.)
Potassium: Potassium is very important in regulating the acidity of your blood while it works with Magnesium another mineral that helps bone health. Potassium can also help with the absorption of Calcium, Phosphorus and Magnesium. Potassium can be found in foods such as bananas, tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables. Manganese: Manganese is essential for proper and normal growth of human bone structure. Although it is one of the three toxic essential minerals we eat, it can provide a variety of buffs for our physical health other than just bone development. Manganese can be found in many vegetables, fruits and nuts. Boron, Selenium, Copper, Silicon and Zinc: These are the trace minerals that help the health of our bones and help the absorption of important bone helping minerals.

4 Calcium: The mineral Calcium makes up over 85% of your body and plays a major role in most of your bodies chemical reactions and without this mineral your body would be very weak or non-existent. Calcium is mostly in our bones and what happens when our body needs Calcium somewhere in the body, our bones soften themselves so that your blood can scrape calcium from your bones and carry where it needs to go through the bloodstream.

5 Phosphorus: Phosphorus is in almost every single cell in our to some amount big or small amount and is especially important in the health of bones and teeth. It also is important in the absorption and transfer of Calcium and other minerals important to your bone health. If too much Phosphorus is consumed you can consume too much Calcium which can be dangerous to you. You can also absorb too much Manganese which is a toxic mineral which can possibly make you sick and give you worse bone health than you had previously.

6 Magnesium & Potassium:
Magnesium and Potassium are very important towards bone strength and health. They are crucial in controlling the acidity of your blood to keep your blood from becoming too acidic which would leach Calcium from your bones which would make your bones weaker and brittle which can lead to bone disorders such as Osteoporosis. Too much of these minerals can result in your blood becoming too non-acidic and will make so that when your body needs Calcium somewhere your blood cannot take Calcium from your bones like usually can and that missing Calcium will have a very negative affect on all of your body. Potassium:

7 Manganese: Manganese is one of the three toxic elements that we consume everyday, this means that we can’t have too little or too much of this mineral. Manganese is very excellent at controlled the growth rate of bones and regulating the mineral density of the spinal bone which regulates the growth of most of your bones and makes your spine healthier. Consuming Manganese can be a crucial problem for those with bone disorders, because of their increased need for these minerals and since this mineral is toxic it can be dangerous to people who consume too much of it.

8 Boron, Selenium, Copper, Silicon and Zinc:
Boron, Selenium, Copper, Silicon and Zinc are all very important minerals in the absorption and transport of all of the minerals that we have talked about so far. These minerals are very, very important in our bodies and without them we couldn’t absorb a lot of the crucial minerals we have to have to live and they can ward off bone sicknesses and disorders such as Osteoporosis. Selenium: Silicon:

9 Mineral Supplements Many mineral supplements exist and are crucial in helping your bones if you contracted a bone sickness or disorder. Such as, Calcium, Boron, Zinc, Silica, Manganese and Magnesium supplements that can help and even treat common bone disorders. Meeting your daily calcium requirement is crucial to ward off Osteoporosis, but what you may not know is that you need to take Calcium supplements with another element that helps the body absorb the Calcium such as, Magnesium or Potassium. There are certain diets that you can take to improve the health of your bones currently. Reduce the amount of protein, such as meat, in your diet. This will help prevent too much calcium from being excreted by the body. Avoid carbonated beverages, even those labeled sugar free. This will reduce phosphorus in your diet, which also helps prevent too much calcium from being excreted by the body. Increase calcium in your diet. Dairy products, green leafy vegetables and legumes are great sources of calcium. Use low fat products if you need to also control your weight. Look for other products, such as orange juice, that have added calcium.
