3 Information It will be XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Games. Olympics takes place in Sochi, Russia in 2014 year and lasts from 7 to 23 February. At the Olympic Games will be raffled 98 sets of medals in 7 sports. The motto is “Hot.Winter(Cool).Yours.” Menu

4 Infrastructure The infrastructure, which is being developed in preparation for the Sochi 2014 Games will be an important legacy for both of the city of Sochi and the Krasnodar region. By 2014, a total of 183 infrastructure facilities will be constructed and modernized in Sochi. Menu

6 Sports Ski Jumping In Russia ski-jumping fans with homemade snow springboards made their appearance in St.Petersburg at the beginning of XX century. Curling Curling originated in the 16th century in Scotland, where games were played during winter on frozen ponds, lochs and marshes. Skeleton Skeleton is the progenitor of the descent from the mountains to the toboggan – wooden sled, common among Canadian Indians. Luge Historical finding point to the existence of sleds as nearly as AD 800. Bobsleigh Bobsleigh Tobogganing is one of the oldest winter sports. Speed Skating Speed skating was first contested at the Winter Games in 1924. Figure Skating Figure skating is the oldest discipline in the Winter Olympics.
