A roaring lion…

3 The First Time Genesis 3 Speaks to man (woman)
Attacks man as soon as he’s created Twisted God’s word Severe consequences for disobedience Set in motion God’s redeeming of man The First Time

4 The Second Time Job 1 Speaks to God
Attacks the earthly blessings Job possessed – his wealth and his health Even a righteous man is not safe from the devil Don’t put trust in earthly things The Second Time

5 The Third Time Matt. & Luke 4 Speaks to Jesus (man and God)
Attacks Divine power Twists God’s word Preys on Jesus’ vulnerability Luke’s account-seems that He was tempted throughout the 40 days V. 13 – every temptation Tempted in all ways yet without sin – Heb. 4:15 The Third Time

6 He’s still up to his old tricks…
He is the father of lies – John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of you father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar and the father of lies. He’s still up to his old tricks…

7 He’s still up to his old tricks…
He is a roaring lion, still walking the earth – 1 Pet. 5:8 Be sober, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. He’s still up to his old tricks…

8 He’s still up to his old tricks…
He still temps us – 1 Thess. 3:5 For this reason, when I could endure it no longer, I also sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the tempter might have tempted you, and our labor would be in vain. James 1:14-15 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. He’s still up to his old tricks…

9 He’s still up to his old tricks…
He exploits our weaknesses – 2 Tim. 2:26 And they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will He’s still up to his old tricks…

10 But he can be defeated! James 4:7
Submit therefor to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you 1 Pet. 5:9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world But he can be defeated!
