2 Directions You will receive one journal prompt a day that somehow relates to our novel The Little Prince. For each prompt, you should respond with a 1 paragraph reply. The paragraph should include: A topic sentence or thesis statement 2-3 details that support your topic sentence or thesis statement. A conclusion sentence

Main idea or thesis is present but isn’t focused or written incorrectly Main Idea or thesis is present and written correctly Main Idea or thesis is narrow, focused, and has an intro into it. Supporting Details and Evidence No evidence or details given Details given, but do not support M.I. or thesis Details support or prove M.I. or thesis. Details are given and evidence is given to support those details Elaboration and Explanation No explanation of details, main idea, or opinion Tries to connect details to M.I. or thesis, but doesn’t go far enough. Evidence/Details are elaborated on well Ample explanation of details and evidence Conclusion Sentence Not present Rushed, out of place Appropriate transition and conclusion Beyond what is expected.

4 Journal Entry 1 Describe a time that an adult acted like you didn’t know what you were talking about because you were younger than they. How did you feel? Why?

5 2 When you were younger, what was something you often imagined about doing? Was it fantastical? Magical? Why was it so appealing to you?

6 3 What is a strange animal that you wish you could have for a pet? Why would you want this animal for a pet?

7 4 What is a “type” of person that you don’t understand? Can you give this “type” of person a title? How do you identify this “type” of person?

8 5 If given the choice, and not having to worry about provisions (food, water, etc), would you want to live alone and away from everyone? Why or why not?

9 6 Describe a friend you have who is very random and different from everyone else? What makes them different? How do people feel about him or her?
