12 Did you know that the UAE has it’s own space agency!

13 UAE Space Agency “The global space industry has travelled a great distance since October when the world saw the launch of the very first satellite, Sputnik.  The vision of United Arab Emirates is equally as bold as the first space pioneers, and we are taking key steps to make the vision of our great father His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the nation an exciting reality. Our establishment of the first space agency in the GCC region will ensure that the UAE is at the forefront of both establishing and advancing the space sector in the Middle East and beyond.” - H.E. Khalifa Mohamed Al Romaithi, Chairman of the UAE Space Agency

14 Initiatives The important projects that they are running are:
Thuraya: Established in April 1997, Thuraya Telecommunications Company is a global mobile satellite service provider of voice, text and data service to two-thirds of the world’s geographical area, across more than 160 countries. Yahsat: Since being incorporated in 2007, Yahsat has implemented extensive research and interaction with customers to design the region’s first multi-purpose satellite system consisting of two satellites and related ground infrastructure. MBRSC: Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) was created and established by the Dubai Government in The Centre is integral to the strategic initiative put in place by the government to inspire scientific innovation, technological advancement, and to advance sustainable development in Dubai and the wider UAE.

15 Missions The MBRSC hope to send a space probe to Mars!!!
Mission to Mars: The mission to Mars program is the first by an Arab, Islamic country. The program will be fully financed and supervised by the UAE Space Agency and developed by Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC)  in support of international partners.   The UAE will be one of only nine countries with ambitions to explore Mars and the unmanned probe will travel more than 60 million kilometres in nine months and will be launched to coincide with the UAE’s 50th anniversary. We want to build the first Arab, Islamic probe to reach Mars by encouraging the peaceful application of space research. Therefore, it is vital that our schools, universities and colleges provide world class education in maths, science, physics and space studies. We are seeing more courses and labs develop and more institutions commit to and support this exciting field.

16 Dana of the Emirates When Dana was only 9 years old she had already done a number of training programs with NASA where she received certificates for her participation. Dana was involved in simulation practice, rocket design, programming, and launch. She was praised for her rocket design. s-youngest-astronaut-candidate
