2 The Coca Cola Company Profile
Formed in 1886 Brewed in Atlanta, Georgia Coca Cola sold an average of 9 drinks per day in its first year of operations In 2010, Coca Cola sold an average of 1 billion drinks per day

3 1899- The Bottling Begins Benjamin Thomas and Joseph Whitehead purchase the bottling rights for Coca Cola for $1 USD The two lawyers decided to use glass bottles to maximized the cola’s taste (Hutchinson glass) In 1916, the bottles where changed to a Contour bottle to help distinguish between competitors

4 Coca Cola goes International
During the early growth years, Coca Cola shipped products to different countries costing the company and the environment In the 1920’s, Coca Cola production expanded bottling companies to France, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Belgium, Italy, Peru, Spain, Australia, South Africa, and 35 other countries

7 How Coca Cola is a Steward of our Environment
I LOHAS – Coca Cola Japan has created a brand of water, “I LOHAS”, which is produced in “crushable” plastic bottles that weighs 40% less than regular PET packaging I LOHAS is accessorized with a reduced label size to save environmental resources I LOHAS plants are built close to water sources to reduce CO2 emissions from transportation “Homeless Animals in the Concrete Jungle” is I LOHAS’s giving back program where art sculptures are placed throughout different locations allowing recycling to be stylish CRUSH ECO won an award from AME for their increasing desire to help solve environmental issues

8 Our Environment includes the People in it
Coca Cola cares not only about the natural environment, but the people with in it Coca Cola has started a “Nutritionally Fortified” program in which over 36,000 children in the Philippines are provided with free NutriJuice which provides children with proficient levels of iron, zinc, lysine, and Vitamins A & C This dedication from Coca Cola shows how important they take their Vision Statement of : PLANET: BE A RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN THAT MAKES A DIFFERENE BY BUILDING AND SUPPORTING SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES

9 Coca-Cola China Launches Eco-Friendly Lightweight Bottles
Coca-Cola China’s new environmental water is called “Ice Dew” Ice Dew is the most innovative light weight bottle in the Chinese beverage Market Ice Dew will reduce Coca Cola China’s carbon footprint by 35% Ice Dew’s specially formulated bottle allows it to be crushed 70% more than previous bottles, thereby saving 70% of the space needed while transporting it to be recycled

10 “I twist for Green” Coca Cola’s awareness campaign to help promote recycling Coca Cola is committed to sustaining and improving communities world wide by establishing standards and setting trends which provide a safer tomorrow I twist for Green has allowed Coca Cola to save 16,400 tons of CO2 emissions (equivalent to 2,788 cars taken off the road or 101 acres of forest planted)

11 Coca-Cola creates Partnerships to Make a Difference
May 2011 Coca Cola partnered with WWF and UNDP to advance water sustainability projects in the Pacific Region Coca Cola donated 4 Million USD to stand by its commitment to water stewardship Coca Cola made a commitment to the World that by 2020 it will safely return to nature and communities an amount of water that is equivalent, or more, to what is used in all of its beverages and their production

12 PlantBottle Packaging
Coca Cola has turned to a new PlantBottle Packaging technique in which 30% of its packages are composed of renewable materials from plants In 2010, more than 2.5 billion PlantBottle packages were used, eliminating the equivalent of almost 30,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide In 2011, it is expected that more than 5 billion PlantBottle packages will be used, eliminating the equivalent of over 60,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide

13 Paper? Plastic? Or Plant? In May 2011, Coca Cola launched its new PlantBottle for Dasani and Odwalla products These new PlantBottles are 100% recyclable plant based packaging Coca Cola released a statement saying: “PlantBottle packaging means only good things for everybody. We welcome others in the industry join us in advancing the science behind packaging made from plants. One company can’t save the entire world….but we are going to try.”

14 RAIN: Water for Africa The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation announced that 6 million USD will be dedicated to helping 250,000 women and girls in Africa RAIN will provide at least 2 million people with safe drinking water and sanitation by 2015 on the African continent RAIN is designed to reinvest 100% of its profit into expanding into more countries in Africa providing the people with life's basic necessity

15 Conclusion Coca Cola has grown from serving 9 drinks a day to serving over 1 billion drinks a day in over a 100 years. With the growth, Coca Cola understands the impact it has on communities and the World’s environment , and is doing their part to be a World leader in taking responsibility for their actions by promoting a secure tomorrow through environment projects. Coca Cola understands the effect they have on the environment and is doing all in their power to make it a positive effect.
