1 North Carolina’s Religious Freedom & HB2 Law
By Carlita Tibbs

2 The LGBT community https://youtu.be/zRwLMC2wP0g
This is a video from Marsha Ambroios. This song was dedicated to her best friend that had committed suicide because he was bullied because of his sexuality.

3 Why I chose this subject
This subject is dear to me because I know so many people within the LGBT community. I have seen first hand what discrimination against this certain community is like. Its terrifying, harsh and disgusting. I don’t believe we should judge people on something they cannot control, like attraction. A lot of my passion for this subject stems from being raised in a very homophobic household along with being the best friend of someone apart of the LGBT community. Why I chose this subject

4 My three texts What I should be: Laws are being passed,
What I should be: Laws are being passed, I’m being seen as an outcast. No where to run, Ill be hiding from the sun. Everyone says that I don’t belong, I just don’t know where this is coming from. My mom says that I shouldn’t open the closet door, That she doesn’t want me to leave this world, I ask her why she’d say that, Then she puts the news on play back. “North Carolina has passed a law Its no fair at all. Not for you, my sweet, Just please do me a favor, And be discrete.” The world must not know who you really are Not right now, maybe not at all. You can be denied work, With just one belief, It doesn’t really matter if we live on the street, This is what the world has come to, Don’t choose to be you. My three texts I explained the video that I shared in my opener and what it meant to me as well as why I chose it as my first text. Poem of a little girl that lives in North Carolina that has realized her sexuality and has to hide who she is because her family is poor and she needs to work. I also did a newsletter on a possible newspaper after the law had been passed. This newsletter was directed to the LGBT community and what they should do now that the law had been passed.

5 Closing I chose this topic because of what I believe is right and how I feel our future will look like if the discrimination against certain groups continue. This law not only opens questions the LGBT community, but it also makes us question how religion and different beliefs can control this country and how that can be a passage way to discrimination. Our country fought hard for equality, and yet here we stand.
