Important Usage Guidelines for Presentation Presentation Name Intel® WiGig and Wireless Docking for Corporate Abstract Intel® Wireless Docking is a solution that enables an end user to wirelessly send content from their WiGig enabled device (Ultrabook, 2-in-1 PC, or Tablet) to a remote display using a Wireless Gigabit dock. To use wireless docking, both a WiGig enabled dock and WiGig enabled client (requiring an Intel Processor and WiGig antennae) must be present. Based on the IEE ad standard, WiGig operates on the 60 GHz spectrum allowing it to transfer data at speeds up to 7 Gbps. This technology enables a quick, reliable, wireless connection with low latency and smooth playbook of any content transmitted over the WiGig interface. This selling guide covers WiGig with a focus on: An overview of both the WiGig technology and wireless docking usage Key selling point of Intel® Wireless Docking solution Corporate use data – including security, remote manageability and operation in a dense environment WiGig for consumer will be addressed in a separate selling guide. Target Audience Internal FSEs, FAEs, MDMs, RMMs, Geo marketing, Software Marketing OEMs, IT Decision Makers, ISVs under NDA Desired Action: Use: Free Me - No Wires usage powered by Intel® Wireless Gigabit technology to drive Ultrabook/2-in-1/Tablet/Phone differentiation Drive design in, design win and pull for PCs with Intel Wireless Gigabit technology Drive GTM and bundle programs PC+Dock+App to deliver the experience to consumers out of the box Integrate compelling Intel® Wireless Gigabit technology usages into Ultrabook/2-in-1/Tablet/ promotions through on line, in Retail and with OEMs. Key Words Docking, Wireless Docking, WiGig, Wireless Gigabit, Ultrabook, User Experience, No Wires, App, Security, 5th Gen Core, Broadwell Content Categories Presentations Classification NDA Owner Kaitlin Murphy Posted/ Last Edited December 2014 Language English Intel Confidential – Internal Use Only

4 What is Wireless Docking?
Wireless docking provides wire-like performance… Visually lossless display for up to two external monitors Real time peripheral support Native USB 3.0 I/O support … without ever connecting a docking cable Multiple docking schemes available based on usage scenarios Hardware acceleration keeps system resource utilization low OS must be present for wireless docking to connect Wireless dock and wireless docking enabled client are both required for wireless docking feature to work

6 Wireless Docking Device mobility trends are challenging usability
Thinner, lighter, smaller screens Fewer USB/display ports More movement between docked and mobile usages Wireless Docking enhances your business productivity Seamless transitions between mobility and productivity modes Compatible with existing peripherals1 Supports multi-devices (same users, different users) Based on the WiGig (802.11ad) standard Wire-like performance Robust on-desk performance even in dense environments Hardware encrypted data transfer 1 – Full compatibility except for graphics. 4k monitors are not supported. Max resolution is 1200p for 2 external monitors and 1600p for a single external monitor.

9 WiGig Overview 802.11ad standard supported by the WiFi Alliance
Rapidly growing eco-system New 60GHz Radio Frequency band Globally available High bandwidth (2GHz BW, 4 channels) Allows high throughput in dense environments, up to 7Gbps (PHY Rates) Optimized to replace display cables (HDMI, DP) and IO (USB, SD, PCIe) cables Power efficient design enables longer battery life

10 An End to End Solution from Intel
In the Mobile PC WiGig Antenna Software and Drivers Maple Peak WiGig Receiver Module In the Wireless Dock Dock Firmware Antenna(s) + Maple Peak Module (WiGig/WiFi/BT) Intel is providing an end-to-end solution for Wireless Docking OEM products featuring this solution are coming to market in Q1 2015

11 Intel’s Wireless Docking – Designed to Productivity
At your desk (home or office) Docking is complete by the time you sit down Auto-dock starts when you approach your desk Full experience without opening the lid Wake the device from the dock or peripherals Saves battery life when docked Dock with close lid will reduce overall power consumption Simple to operate Automatic configuration, SW updates In the office Robust performance in dense environment Short range & directional Enables multi users share same dock at different times1 Select remote management features are available Centralized discovery & upgrade of dock firmware supported

12 Security By nature, WiGig is a secure technology
Point to point connection Only transmits over a short range Requires line of sight Wireless docking uses AES 128 bit HW encryption for all data passed between the client and dock User profiles are secure and saved on the client PC, not the dock.

13 Manageability Remote maintenance is supported
SW/FW updates can be easily pushed by IT patch tools or management consoles to WiGig-enabled clients Intel® SCS 10 support available for remote discovery of detailed WiGig client information via Microsoft’s SCCM management console (via SCS add-on) or PowerShell When client with updated SW connects to a dock with older FW, mismatch is detected upon first connection attempt and WiGig SW guides user through dock FW update

14 Operating in Dense Environments
Scanning Range & Retention Range (~20 ft. max) Admission Range (~ 1 – 4 ft.) WiGig signals have limited range Won’t pass through solid objects Clear line of sight from the client to the dock ensures best performance WiGig operates on multiple channels and can select the optimal channel to use based on congestion levels. Ranges for best performance may differ for different form factors & orientations Clamshells (Open/Closed): 3-4 feet from dock Tablets (Glass Up) feet from dock
