What is a rainforest? A rainforest is a forest with many trees, high rainfall, and year- round warm temperatures.

Facts Rainforests produce 40% of Earth's oxygen
Rainforests belong to the tropical wet climate group. The temperature in a rainforest rarely gets higher than 93 °F or drops below 68 °F. Almost all rainforests lie near the equator.

Tropical Rainforests Fifty seven percent of all tropical rainforests are found in Latin America. They have warm temperatures and have hundreds of different kinds of trees.

Plants Jambu Bengal Bamboo Strangler Figs

Animals Toco Toucan King Cobra Slender Loris

More Facts Scientists estimate that more than half of all the world's plant and animal species live in tropical rain forests. About 1/4 of all the medicines we use come from rainforest plants. A tropical rain forest has more kinds of trees than any other area in the world. About seventy percent of the plants in a rainforest are trees.

Endangered Thirty acres of trees are cut in the tropical rainforests every minute. Rainforests now cover less than 6% of Earth's land.
