1 Article 5 of the Constitution
Amendment The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate. What does this mean? Article 5 details the method of amending, or changing, the Constitution.

2 Living the Constitution
Arizona has created a bill to take down the 14th amendment. They want to deny citizenship to children born in Arizona to undocumented mothers. This bill would require hospitals to check every patient’s citizenship status, turning doctors and nurses into the immigration police. Arizona also wants to propose a bill that would deny education to undocumented children by requiring proof of citizenship to enroll in any public or private school. These new laws Arizona wants to apply are basically against all illegal immigrants and removing their rights and also their families’. /opinion/27sun2.html This news story relates to Article 5 of the Constitution because the article involves the ability to create amendments. The 14th amendment discusses the citizenship rights of people that are living in the United States. They created this amendment to say who actually is a citizen. The article discusses people that want to change this amendment because they feel it is unfair that the children born in the United States are automatically citizens, even if their parents are illegal. This involves article 5 because they made this amendment for a specific reason as it was their right to do so.
