30 Federal Accountability & AMOs
Changes in Reporting for   Maintaining High Expectations Beginning in , the Virginia Board of Education (BOE) added an additional reporting item referred to as Maintaining High Expectations (MHE). This item states that a reporting group that performed higher in the prior year than the current year’s AMO target is expected to meet the prior year’s pass rate or be within five percent of the prior year’s pass rate with the following provisions: the “within five percent” provision may not be used for more than two consecutive years the “maintain / no backslide” provision does not apply if the reporting group’s pass rate meets or exceeds 90% the MHE will come into effect once two years of comparable SOL assessment data are available: for Mathematics
