1 T1.3 Pilot Sites Survey and Audit, Peeter Kool CNet Svenska AB

2 Overview M2-M12 Partners: CNet (4), CERTH-ITI (2), TECNALIA (2), PPC (4) Deliverables: Contributes to D1.1.

3 1 Pilot site CERTH Technalia Microgrid Lab 5 or 4 sub pilots
Not part of the actual pilot sites

4 What’s Done Testing and evaluation of sensor platforms
enOcean: Energy harvesting (no batteries), primarily for presence detection Netvox: Wide range of ZigBee sensors (proprietary) PlugWise: Smart Plugs + some sensors Enistic: Power usage and actuation. Plugs, Multi-plugs, Clamps (normally non-obtrusive) ZWave device evaluation. WIFI-based plugs Current Cost (Zigbee) Office pre-pilot started Shutting down screens when alarm turned on Software “Test bed”, eat your own medicine. Creating action plan.

5 What’s Done (Cont..) Meeting at CERTH during February
Surveyed the premises and possible pilot locations BMS connection through OPC (BacNet) VRVs and HVAC accessible through BMS Preliminary locations decided ITI Building Conference Room Cafeteria/Smart House Installed first measuring equipment and gateway. Uploading data to cloud server List of needed sensors/actuators

6 D1.1 Pilots The pilot sites were selected depending on a number of factors which primarily involved the following priorities: What can be measured and controlled BMS Connection Occupancy and usage HVAC system layout to enable correct measurement and control Access for installation

7 D1.1 Pilots Three main sites ITI building Conference Room Cafeteria
6 Sub-areas Conference Room HIT Building Cafeteria 2 Options

8 D1.1 Pilot ITI Building

9 D1.1 Pilot ITI Building We could control We can measure
HVAC system, both internal VRVs as well as external units Power consumption of other individual consumers Primarily Computer equipment In the Corridor Water Heater/Cooler Vending Machines Water heater We could control VRV temperature set points Lighting Individual smart plugs Water Heater

10 D1.1 Pilot Conference Room
Another building: CERTH-HIT We do not have access to complete HVAC data Not even VRV data? We can measure Individual smart plugs We could control Lighting

11 D1.1 Cafeteria Not suitable to be included in pilot Two alternativs
Kitchen in CERTH-ITI building Smart Energy House No details now

12 D1.1 Cafeteria Kitchen We Could control We can measure
Television/Display Drinking water cooler/heater Ice Machine Refrigerator Microwave oven Small household appliances, i.e. heating plate and mixer. Ventilation speed (Set manually now) We Could control Refrigerator? (Discussion from telco) Ventilation speed. Lighting

13 Devices for Pilots Device Total number 3 Phase energy meters 3
12 Smartplugs 47 Switch 1 7 Switch 2 9 C02 Thermometers RFID 8 VRV 14 Humidity Water heater measurement and control switch 1 Manual ventilation control unit movement sensor Light Sensor

14 Open Issues Pilot Sites Devices Smart Energy Home/Kitchen
Conference room Devices Luminance sensors Depends on the actual possibility of controlling the lights Dimmable lights (Expensive) C02 sensors The smart dishwasher Where? We have recieved the first info about the interface. Adding intelligence to the fridge/Water heater

15 Initial Pilot Implementation plan

16 Initial Pilot Implementation plan
Two main parts INERTIA infrastructure installation plan Required to operate and develop INERTIA Sensor Cloud installations Installation of sensors Simple i.e. smart plugs Complex, i.e. equipment that is not plug and play and requires more installation Try to make a gradual rollout Minimising risks

17 Initial Pilot Implementation plan
Deadline Installation Initial sensor platforms decided and procurement started Local Control Hub Server and OPC BMS server installed and available. Current test gateway configured to work with the Local Control Hub. Reuse the existing PlugWise based network as the first test case for the sensor cloud. Connection with BMS through OPC verified. This together with the PlugWise test installation will be the bases for what can be demoed in the review 2013-? Rollout of first fixed installations reading the 2 and 3 phase meters, i.e. covering the HVAC system. Addition of a new gateway in CERTH-HIT building and deployment of smart plugs in all locations. Installation of first set of fixed light controls and measurement in the Conference room 2014-? Installation of the rest of fixed light controls and measurement in CERTH-ITI building based on the experience from the Conference Room. Smart Energy House?

18 D1.1 Action Plan Current ToC

19 Action Plan End September
Final “initial pilot implementation plan” finished. Decided on initial platforms, i.e which devices to buy together with CERTH Can we make a gradual rollout? Final deliverable D1.1 contribution done. 23/9 ready for peer-review

20 This meeting! Agree on the pilot sites
How to deal with smart energy house Cafeteria decided Conference room
