Financial Update (Mike):
Julie reported not many financials have processed since May.
We have expenses from Dan Miller (June LHE) and Col. Athens to pay.
We are at 89% membership dues received. Julie will discontinue membership for Columbia Steel and Protech. Leupold & Stevens is discontinuing membership as of August 1st, paying a pro-rated dues for 2017 for services received.
Old Business:
One-Pager Doc: Julie and Vance met with one of Jeff Cameron’s students, Caitlyn Connor who will take our one-pager doc and apply graphic design expertise to it. Julie also asked Caitlyn if she or one of her student colleagues had expertise to create an electronic interactive version of the one-pager doc. Caitlyn doesn’t have this experience, but knew of a friend who might. Julie and Vance will play catch ball with Caitlyn as she designs the one-pager doc and will update the Board. Caitlyn will have the document completed by August 15th.
Strategy Session Actions: Julie is working on creating the Leadership Session as designed from the Strategy Session by reaching out to Gary Peterson with OC Tanner and Scott Simmons to deliver the practitioner session on how to create a graphical representation of a Challenge based on one company objective or strategy. Julie will keep the Board updated as this comes together.
Event Updates (Julie):
Learning Tours: Julie met with Sheldon Mfg. to plan for their upcoming Learning Tour. They do not have support from management for this Learning Tour as demonstrated by no problems identified by this group to work on during the Learning Tour. This same problem occurred last year and Sheldon hosted anyway. While good work was done at the 2016 Learning Tour, none of the improvements or ideas were used by Sheldon. After deep discussion, Julie and the Sheldon CI team decided to cancel their 2017 Learning Tour while they work on the leadership gap.
Training Classes: Smith Gardens hosted the IK/CK class. Tray Gibbs, Scott Simmons, and Julie taught this class. It was well received. With Leupold discontinuing membership, our use of their simulation for this class is at risk. Julie has been told NWHPEC can still use the simulation, but feels if any of the current staffing changes, that decision could also change. Julie will work on finding another simulation to use for this class in the future.
Executive Forums: The LHE series has ended for the first group. The second groups’ series ends in July. Julie has scheduled a debrief and “Graduates Class” planning session for July 12th with Dan, Kari Penca, Steve Allred (Oracle), and Ashley Rochholz (Milwaukee Electronics). This group will design the Graduates class to be delivered in the Fall. Two to three classes for this group are under consideration.
Leadership Sessions: Julie has reached out to Gary Peterson, VP of Manufacturing OC Tanner as our next Leadership Session speaker. Gary asked Julie for more information, which she provided and is now waiting to hear back from Gary.
