Five pieces were chosen: Kangaroos Turtle The Cuckoo in the Depths of the Woods The Swan Royal March of the Lion

4 Take a Musical Journey on the Path of the Melody
A Musicmap uses pictures and patterns to map the path of a melody. The Musicmap method is a fun and effective way for young children to learn pre-reading musical notation. The Musicmap method helps young children learn to track printed symbols, as necessary for reading music as it is for reading words: directionality from left to right, stimulation (hearing a combination of notes or letters), and following (tracking) with the eyes and/or a finger. Children who learn tracking with the Musicmap program will gain a critical skill they can use when learning to read.

5 The Innovative Musicmap Series: Carnival of the Animals
• Promotes active music listening • Uses a multi-sensory approach • Presents visually the length and pitch of the notes • Was produced through cooperation among experts in music education, art, and performance

6 Multi-sensory Learning Experience
Simultaneously: Listen to the classical music See the artistic design Touch tactile materials that symbolize notes  Facilitates children’s cognitive development

7 Field-tested in the U.S. and in Korea
• This series was field-tested in preschools, elementary schools (lower grades), and homes in both the United States and South Korea.   • Koomzaal made revisions in accordance with the comments we received from experts, families, and schools in both countries.   • Children, teachers, and parents have showed great enthusiasm for this series. • This series has been receiving high praise from education experts in music, art, literature, fine arts, literacy, and related disciplines in both countries.

8 Exhibited at the 2006 NAEYC Conference
