4 Bad Kleinkirchheim ski resort has great areas for beginners including some longer than normal “nursery” slopes which give students a very early taste of being “on the mountain”.  Inters and advanced are also very well catered for.  So from nursery through to the 3.5 km Franz Klammer World Cup run, there really is something for everyone.

Vertical Drop: 1054m Snowmaking: 45% Terrain Park: 1 Slopes Easy 18k Medium 77k Difficult 8k The main man over there is Max and he basically makes sure everything runs perfectly!  The instructors are on hand every morning to greet the groups and most of them stick around at lunch time as well.

6 Camp Royal X We will be staying at Camp Royal X which is a hotel perfectly suited to youth groups and schools and specificall caters for them in both summer and winter. It is located on Lake Millstadt near the town of Seeboden and a short walk into the local village

7 Camp Royal X Rooms will be multi occupancy rooms

8 Camp Royal X The hotel has excellent facilities including a swimming pool which students will be allowed to use under supervision.

9 Camp Royal X Students will receive breakfast and evening meal at the hotel. It is key that the students have a proper breakfast to prevent fatigue and injury.

10 Before we go Ski trip lessons for beginners Ski Exercises
Ski Plex – Basingstoke, Chiswick & Reading Snow dome – Hemel Hempstead,Milton keynes Artificial slopes Ski Exercises You might want to consider some lessons before we go if you want to although the trip does cater for complete novices. Options are: Skiplex – probably the best as there is no time spent going up and down chair lifts or button lifts. (£35 an hour) Snow dome – most realistic Artificial slopes – Sandown £59 for 55 minute lesson Skiing is very arduous particularly when you are learning and requires muscles that we don’t use that often. There are a number of good ski exercise videos available on youtube that you may want to follow. I will try to introduce some fitness classes after half term for those that want to attend.

11 Before we go: Passport CHECK EXPIRY DATE NOW!!!
Passport must be handed in to Miss Newton by Fri 6th March

12 Before we go: EHIC Check expiry date as well - most only last 3 years
All party members covered by Endesleigh winter sport insurance but EHIC cards are a necessity EHIC cards to be handed into Miss Newton with passports EHIC cards are free of charge on

13 Medicines We must be notified of any allergies
Medicines must be placed in a clear plastic envelope with name and dosage and handed in to Miss Newton on the day we leave This includes non-prescription, over the counter products and travel sickness pills The only exception is inhalers. These must be clearly named.

14 The Journey Out Leaving St Paul’s on the 27th Mar at approx. ??????
Ferry from Dover to Calais and then through Europe to Austria Arrive at the resort the next day (14 hours from Calais)

15 The Journey Out: What you need
Pack lunch, snacks and drinks Warm clothes and your ski jacket Small rucksack for belongings Medium sized bag for the hold (preferably not a rigid bag) Optional pillow and sleeping bag Ski socks for fitting upon arrival Euros for stops on the journey (total trip money should not exceed £100) You will need a 5 Euro deposit for your ski pass which will be given back at the end of the trip and there will be a pizza night which will cost in the region of 15 euros. There is also the option for a disco at around £6 which we can decide on when we are there.

17 Things You Will Need for Skiing
Hire or buy: You will be given a brief chat from Colin at the end to highlight what sort of equipment yopu will need. There will also be a kit list in the handouts

18 Day 1 - Arrival day Ski Fit - make sure that you have a pair of ski socks with you Rooming - same gender, some choice available Fire Drill Dinner

19 Days 2 - 7 Breakfast at the hotel
4 hours of Ski lessons by a qualified instructor; with an hour break for lunch Ski groups on ability not age. Opportunity to swap groups throughout the week Return to hotel for shower and dinner Evening entertainment Bed and lights out at set time

20 Evening Entertainments
Pizza night/swimming/movie night/quiz night

21 Homeward Bound Departing on the Friday 3rd April; travelling back through the night and aiming to arrive back at St Paul’s during the afternoon of the 4th April. Times are subject to crossing times and will be confirmed at a later date. Parents will be given as much notice as possible for expected arrival time.

22 Expectations I will not smoke
If I am under 18 I will not buy or consume alcohol I will not bring or buy any drugs or weapons I understand that I must wear a seat belt at all times while on the coach. I also agree to put litter in the bin and clear up after myself on the coach I will attend all tour activities, unless medically excused. I will only enter someone’s room with the permission of the occupants. I will remain in my room after a set time each evening as requested by members of staff. I will be punctual to all activities. Just a not on Alcohol as it has already been pointed outy that the legal age in Austria is 16. The Surrey County Council guidelines on this state that students have to be 18 to buy or consume alcohol on any school trip in UK or abroad. There is no lattitude in this so please ensure that everyone understands this. Students who are 18 will be allowed some alcohol in moderation under supervision and when the situation allows it

23 Expectations I will attend all meals; If I suspect my friends are not eating enough I will let a member of staff know. Sports tours are physically demanding and pupils will need energy if they are to get the most out of the trip. I will participate in all the extra activities. You will not be able to remain in your room on your own. I will behave sensibly at all times, you are representing yourself, your school and your country. I will be courteous to all members of staff, other pupils and people met whilst on the tour. I will look after all the equipment I am given and for safety reasons only use the equipment I have been given. Respect each others belongings.
