1 Installation Global System
PROGRESS OVERVIEW Fred Asiri, Wilhelm Bialowons, Tetsuo Shidara Fred Asiri LCWS Bangalore, India 1

2 Charge: Installation: Responsible for developing the installation schedule for the ILC installation. Work with the system managers and the engineering groups to develop a model for component fabrication, receiving, warehousing, and installation. Needs the scope of work details Fred Asiri LCWS Bangalore, India 2

3 STRATEGY: Define Installation System Reach agreement about the Installation System Establish subsystem interfaces/Boundaries Obtain all pertinent material on similar installation Obtain components list from Area System managers Prepare and maintain an up-to-date Configuration drawing for the Baseline Machine Establish an integrated installation process for the ILC Baseline in full cooperation with other regions Fred Asiri LCWS Bangalore, India 3

4 Definition of Terms: Components are defined to be elements of the ILC machine and may be anything from complex subassemblies to single items, which are at the highest stage of pre-subassembly possible prior to installation in the beam tunnel or support tunnel. Components are to be bundled into installation kits ready for subassembly or if possible for installation in their operational location. Fred Asiri LCWS Bangalore, India 4

5 Assumptions: Installation begins when conventional facilities turn over facility ready for beneficial occupancy and installation is complete system checkout and conditioning are finished and commissioning begins. Point of contact with CF&S has been established - Vic Kuchler Questions: Where should the component subassembly take place, on-site or off-site What should the overall schedule for construction and installation be based on? According to the first pass DCB schedule; All components must be delivered to the ILC site for completion of installation within 7 years of the start of construction Fred Asiri LCWS Bangalore, India 5

6 Subsystem Interfaces:
At Beneficial Occupancy Conventional Facilities will provide the following: Housing (surface and tunnel) ready for beneficial occupancy Surveying monuments for the civil construction AC power distribution Water system for hose attachments Ambient temperature control and ventilation system Lighting system Compressed air Telephone system backbone - Installation will then begin ………… Fred Asiri LCWS Bangalore, India 6

7 Obtain all pertinent material on similar installation :
Gathered relevant material on area installation for LEP, NLC, and LHC Fred Asiri LCWS Bangalore, India 7

8 Obtain components list from Area System managers:
Point of contacts has been established Draft need list has been prepared and distributed Schematic and graphic concept sketches of the system components, or subassemblies, revealing Function, size, volume and weight, and their Point of connection or interface with other area systems. Largest maintenance units for replacement, with volume, weight, dimensions, and transport fixtures. Area utility needs at point of connection described in standard engineering units for: Pressure, flow, temperature, fluid velocity, power, voltage, current, power factor, etc. Fred Asiri LCWS Bangalore, India 8

9 Prepare and maintain an up-to-date Configuration drawing for the Baseline Machine:
First cut version of the configuration drawing has been prepared This drawing is set in different layers to match each Area System This drawing will serve to define the interfaces and boundaries of each A.S. Fred Asiri LCWS Bangalore, India 9

10 Established 3DVisualization and Integration tools to facilitate the installation process:
Visualization Tasks Goal Status Tools and software Information Required 3D modeling Developing 3D model with real dimensions Supporting interference check Beam delivery system (20 mrad and 2 mrad) Positron bypass options Main Linac 5 km main linac RF service tunnel layout AutoCAD 2006 Pipes, cables (geometry information) Movement path Material (optional) Walk Through Animation Implementing real-time walk through animation from operator’s perspective Supporting visual analysis Autodesk 3DS Max ($3,500) Integration Tool Supporting option study Automatic generation of 3D view, cost estimation AutoCAD 2006, VBA, Excel Fred Asiri LCWS Bangalore, India 10

11 Establish an integrated installation process for the ILC Baseline in full cooperation with other regions: Installation Tasks Goal Status Tools and software Information Required Fabrication and delivery management Real-time tracking on fabrication and delivery status Managing and optimizing the delivery process Set-up of the Data Base Software First phase (~$100K) Size and weight of components Fabrication sequence and time Functional compatibility study Checking functional compatibility between sub-systems ? Searching Estimating $50K ~ $100K Interconnections requirements  On-site installation process management Visualizing on-site assembly and installation process Supporting analysis on assembly and installation process Supporting analysis on site logistics Common Point Project4D Storage area available Installation sequence and time Fred Asiri LCWS Bangalore, India 11
