We’ll be reading all kinds of objects and materials around the room. You could try this at home by having your child read aloud cereal boxes, advertisements, take-out menus, etc. This shows how we use nonfiction reading as part of our everyday lives! Writing: On Monday, students will have an on-demand prewriting assessment for the informational unit that we are about to kick off. Due to CogAt testing, we will not have writing on Tues.-Thurs. When we resume on Friday, students will get to complete a presidential outline with facts using a nonfiction book. Be sure to ask your child who they are researching! Math: We will be finishing up some place value standards about knowing the value of particular digits in the hundreds, tens, and ones place and figuring about different ways to make a 3 digit number by bundling ten groups of ten as a hundred. Ask your child what is the value of these underlined digits: 543, 791 Social Studies: Students will learn the difference between rules and laws on Monday. Be sure your child can tell you the difference and give an example of each. Then the rest of the week, we’ll be having our own class elections and students will campaign for class offices.
