2 What Experiences have Shaped the Stories of Various Communities in Canada? (Jamaican) The experiences were: The first Jamaicans who migrated to Canada were settled in Halifax on July 22, Many of these early immigrants helped to reinforce Nova Scotia’s defenses by building the Halifax citadel, While some of the Maroons remained in Canada, due to difficulty in adjusting to the harsh climate, the majority were re-settled in Sierra Leone where desendants remain until this day.

3 What Experiences have Shaped the Stories of Various Communities in Canada? (Polish)
The experiences were: The first significant group of Polish settlers were Kushubians from Northern Poland, who were escaping Prussion oppression resulting from the occupation. They arrived in Renfrew Country of Ontario in 1858 where they founded the settlements of Wilno, Barry’s Bay and Round Lake. By 1890 there were about 270 Kashubian families working in the Madawaska valley.
