38 Mama’s Favorite Sayings

39 Mama’s Favorite Sayings

40 Can You Identify These 2 Doctors?

41 “I have a dream, that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal."

42 March on Washington Aug. 28, 1963. Washington, D.C.
“I have a dream, that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” March on Washington Aug. 28, Washington, D.C.

43 Can You Identify These 2 Doctors?

44 “I was proud of the youths who opposed the war in Vietnam because they were my babies.”

45 “The child rearing ‘bible’ for 3 generations.”

46 “The child rearing ‘bible’ for 3 generations.”
Baby & Child Care “The child rearing ‘bible’ for 3 generations.” 1st published in 1946. 9 editions since. 90 million copies sold. 2nd only to the _______. Bible

47 Essential Principle #1 II Thessalonians 2:10-12
“Just like a mule eating a less than clean bale of hay, we must be able to distinguish and spit out the briars.” II Thessalonians 2:10-12 Proverbs 23:23 “Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.”

48 Essential Principle #2 Matthew 16:18-19
“Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:7 Matthew 16:18-19

49 Baby & Child Care Was consulted on everything; weaning, toilet training, childhood diseases, fevers, rashes & discipline, which was anti-authoritarian. This way of thinking taught parents the notion that their children, when they misbehaved, were unhappy, not morally disobedient.

50 The Ultimate Result? Pro 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Such thinking excuses children from guilt, and does away with any sense of moral responsibility. Children, then, no matter how badly they behave, were not to be treated sternly, but were to be counseled. Parents were left to negotiate a peaceful solution to the crisis. They had no authority to dictate matters, only a democracy among equals, a social contract where parents and children had equal say-so in all matters. It is humanism to the core!

51 Pro 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
The Ultimate Result? With parental authority undermined, the foundation of all childrearing and, if correctly understood, all societies and nations was destroyed as well! Is this significant?

52 “He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes (early).” Proverbs 13:24 “Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.” Proverbs 19:18

53 The Truth of the Matter Discipline, which includes spanking, was always meant to be done in love and, if necessary, including the use of a “rod,” literally, a branch or stick. This means that ideally, all discipline would be free of the elements of frustration, impatience and vindictiveness, so that the correction, as it may correctly be called, would always conform to the proper notions of “love.”

54 If “because I said so” is the only reason we ever give to our children for anything we tell them to do, that isn’t right because it does lack instruction benefit. “Because I Said So”? Parents should avoid saying that phrase as a reason for asking their children to do something, some descendants of Spock say. And why? Children need to be instructed as to why something is necessary, or right, or wrong. Just saying “because I said so” is not instructing children. Some even go so far as to say that using that line is almost dictatorial.

55 Romans 13:1-4 “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”

56 (2) Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”

57 (3) For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil
(3) For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:”

58 (4) For he is the minister of God to thee for good
(4) For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.”

59 (5) Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. (6) For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.”

60 (7) Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.”

61 Sometimes you follow an authority figure simply because they are the authority figure.

62

63

64 Acts 5:28-29 “Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us. (29) Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” `

65 Children need to be taught to respect authority.
Sometimes, that means you just do what you are told because someone in authority has spoken. It does not mean you always understand it. It doesn’t mean you always enjoy it. It means you are showing respect to a position of authority.

66 God’s Simple Plan HEAR (Romans 10:17) BELIEVE (John 8:24)
REPENT (Luke 13:3) CONFESS (Rom.10:9-10) BAPTIZED (Gal. 3:27) ADDED TO THE CHURCH (Acts 2:41,47)

67 Are You Wayward? “Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.” (Acts 8:22) “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16)
