2 Office of Technology Commercialization
The mission of the Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) is to identify Intellectual Property resulting from research at Texas State University, protect it, and to facilitate the commercialization to business and industry; and, when feasible, to assist in the formation of start-up businesses that utilize the university’s technology in order to provide benefits to the university and the regional economy.

3 Services Provided by OTC
Promote and manage Texas State’s intellectual property (IP) portfolio Provide support for and review of all IP disclosures Protect and commercialize university IP Negotiate and review all research-related contracts; including nondisclosure, sponsored research, university-industry partnership and university-industry service agreements.

4 Contract Review Review, write, negotiate terms and conditions for sponsored research contracts The OTC works closely with the Office of Sponsored Programs and TSUS legal office to ensure that the terms of research contracts support the university mission and do not hinder academic freedom. The OTC works closely with the Office of Research Integrity & Compliance to ensure that we are in compliance with Federal and State law and university policies

5 Intellectual Property (IP) Assistance
Provide general guidance on IP (Patents and Trademarks) related questions and issues. Assist university researchers with Invention Disclosure Forms (IDFs).

6 Intellectual Property (IP) Management
The OTC in conjunction with the IP Committee will review the IDFs for potential value. The OTC is responsible for initiating the filing of protection mechanisms for university owned IP and coordinating any needed IP related actions.

9 Technology Commercialization
Manage and coordinate the university’s Patents, License Agreements and Material Transfer Agreements. Market technology to potential licensees. Negotiate license agreements. Assist with the formation of start up and spinout companies.

10 Results of Commercialization Activities since May 2010
79 Invention Disclosures were received. 36 Provisional Patents and 25 full Patent Applications were filled. 4 companies were formed. 7 Licensing Agreements were signed
