Walk-In Take out notebook, folder, pencil box. Take a sheet of white paper from the table. Fold it TWICE, to form 4 boxes on each side.

COMPONENTS are a part of something. You will view a presentation on the class webpage, and follow the directions to learn about blood components and compare and contrast them. In the second part of the period, we will have the quiz about circulation, respiration and blood components.

5 Page 2 Title – Red blood cell
Function: Carries oxygen throughout the body. Details: Is smaller than a white blood cell. There are many more of them in the blood than WBC. Draw a diagram of it:

White blood cells help fight infection and diseases. Draw a diagram of how it fights infections like bacteria:

7 Page 4 Title – Platelet Platelets are solid fragments of cells that help form blood clots at a cut. Draw a diagram of it and explain how its shape might help with its function:

8 Page 5 Title – Plasma Plasma is the liquid part of the blood. It contains proteins, glucose, hormones and other things dissolved in the water it is mostly made up of. Draw a diagram of a blood vessel with plasma and other blood components in it:

Make a T-chart, with column headings Same and Different. Observe the diagram. List as many things possible for structure and function of these cells.

Draw the diagram shown, and label the Artery Vein Capillary Color code the diagram to show oxygen-rich blood and oxygen-poor blood.
