6. Open source softwares
Within the course we have used commercial softwares; there are open source ones too:
Matlab  R rather similar to use, even more possibilities than within Matlab. Good particularly for statistics. A bit steep learning curve at the beginning
Adobe Illustrator  Inkscape (free), Affinity Designer (55€) both are getting better, and particularly AD has got lots of good reviews
ArcGIS  QGIS in many things better than ArcGIS but for mapping ArcGIS is still better

Lot’s of different indicators, which can tell fascinating stories!

9. Summary
GDP vs other indicators – GDP is rather limited indicator and does not always reflect the real well-being of people
Importance of human development– Certain level of human development needed before good progress in economy can be made
Water resources and social indicators interconnected in various ways; very important to look beyond the ‘water box’!
