7 God’s Presence “If the Holy Spirit was withdrawn from the church today, 95 percent of what we do would go on and no one would know the difference. If the Holy Spirit had been withdrawn from the New Testament church, 95 percent of what they did would stop, and everybody would know the difference.” Tozer

8 God’s Presence ‘I am not afraid that the people called Methodists should ever cease to exist in Europe or America. But I am afraid lest they should only exist as a dead sect, having the form of religion without the power. And this undoubtedly will be the case unless they hold fast both the doctrine, spirit and discipline with which they first set out.’ John Wesley

9 God’s Promise On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. (John 7:37-39)

10 God’s Promise The Holy Spirit flows from the Father and the Son.
The Holy Spirit brings: Holiness – Inner renewal brings outward transformation. Life – Life in all its fullness (John 10:10) Fruit (Galatians 5:22) Healing – Inner and outer (Acts)

11 God’s Promise ’Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?’ (1 Corinthians 3:16). ‘Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies’ (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

12 Promise of God’s Presence
Presence or programmes. Visitation or habitation. Dream or hope. Promise fulfilled but needs to be received.
