Before the start of (or early) Fall semester  decide if you will enter the job market
August – September  get your job market packet together

5. Timing of Events
September – December  (1) send out your job market packet (2) increase your visibility to potential employers (3) practice for potential interviews (4) practice giving a talk (5) continue working on your dissertation

December  set appointments during the AEA meeting

Anywhere and everywhere possible -> Target most of your applications to departments/institutions similarly ranked as SES and below

Create a custom profile on JOE:
 Employers can search through the profiles
 Applications may be done through JOE for some positions

Submit profile to department signaling packet by the end of September
Create your profile
Identify two schools or institutions where you would like to send the department packet and send me their addresses

Complete your online webpage and make sure you are on the job market list
Upload your job market paper to REPEC:

October 4 – send profile and two schools/institutions to me
October 6 – department packet will be sent out to schools/institutions
Early December (tentatively December 2) – job market meeting for those entering the job market

Create profile in JOE and make a list of places to apply
Submit profile to me along with two schools/institutions
Update webpage in SES
Send packet and check JOE and other webpages regularly
