1 How to Read Music Treble clef notes

3 =========== & All music is written on, above, or below a staff.
This is a staff. =========== & A staff is 5 parallel lines. This is a treble clef. It goes onto the staff like this. It tells us that the notes on the staff are the high notes. Click to continue

4 =========== & All notes have names.
The note names are only one letter. =========== & They are the first 7 letters of the alphabet. A E C G B D F Click to continue

5 =========== & The notes go in alphabetical order going up the staff. G
Once you get to “G” you go back to “A”. That means that note names are used more than once. Click to continue

6 =========== & Let’s look at the notes on the lines.
These notes have a line going through the middle of them. Their names are: E G B D F They go onto the staff like this: Click to continue

7 We use a sentence to help remember the notes on the lines.
The first letter of each word begins with a note name. =========== & F D B G E Every Every We use the sentence to remember the notes like this: Good Girl Boy or Buys Try to remember one of these sentences. Does Designer Fine Fashions Click to continue

8 Now lets look at the notes in the spaces between the lines.
=========== & The names of these notes are: F A C E They spell the word FACE. They go onto the staff like this: Click to continue

9 For notes above or below the staff, sometimes a ledger line is used.
=========== & ____ Ledger lines look like this: Ledger lines are used to keep track of how far away from the staff a note is. Notes can go on or in-between ledger lines. Click to continue

10 The shape of a note tells how many counts to hold the note out.
The kind (shape) of notes also have names. =========== & w This is a whole note: It is held out for 4 counts. This is a half note: h It is held out for 2 counts. This is a quarter note: q It is held out for 1 count. Click to continue
