2 Worship Through Giving
God’s Grace Given

3 God’s Grace Given Matthew 5:45 - that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Romans 5:10 - For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

4 God’s Grace Given 2 Corinthians 9:8 - And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. Proverbs 3: Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.

5 God’s Grace Given John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 2 Corinthians 8:9 - For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

6 Worship Through Giving
God’s Grace Given Man’s Thankfulness

7 Man’s Thankfulness 1 Thessalonians 5:18 - in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Ephesians 5:20 - giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

8 Man’s Thankfulness 2 Corinthians 9: while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. 12 For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God, 2 Corinthians 9:7 - So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

9 Man’s Thankfulness 1 Chronicles 29: "Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name.14 But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You. 2 Corinthians 8:24 - Therefore show to them, and before the churches the proof of your love and of our boasting on your behalf.

10 Conclusion Next week we will look at more reasons Christians need to be a giving people. Are you giving because God gave to us 1st? Are you giving because this a how we show our thankfulness and love to God?

13 Worship Through Giving
We are looking at “true worship” – John 4:24 5 specific acts found in New Testament: Prayer Singing Instruction Giving Lord’s Supper

14 Worship Through Giving 1 Corinthians 16:1-2
1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: 2 On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.

15 Worship Through Giving 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

16 Worship Through Giving
God’s Grace Given Man’s Thankfulness Man’s Priority

17 Man’s Priority Matthew 16: Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

18 Man’s Priority 2 Corinthians 8:1-5 - Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: 2 that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. 3 For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing, 4 imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. 5 And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God.

19 Man’s Priority 1 Corinthians 10: Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Psalm 100:3 - 3 Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

20 Man’s Priority Psalm 50:10-12, For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills I know all the birds of the mountains, And the wild beasts of the field are Mine. 12 "If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all its fullness. 22 "Now consider this, you who forget God, Lest I tear you in pieces, And there be none to deliver: 23 Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God."

21 Man’s Priority 1 Chronicles 29: Therefore David blessed the LORD before all the assembly; and David said: "Blessed are You, LORD God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever. 11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, And You are exalted as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You, And You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great And to give strength to all. 13 "Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name. 14 But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You For we are aliens and pilgrims before You, As were all our fathers; Our days on earth are as a shadow, And without hope. 16 "O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name is from Your hand, and is all Your own.

God’s Grace Given Man’s Thankfulness Man’s Priority Man’s Consequences

23 Man’s Consequences Malachi 3: "Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, 'In what way have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this," Says the LORD of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.

24 Man’s Consequences Haggai 1:6 - "You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes." 2 Corinthians 9:6 - But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

25 Man’s Consequences Malachi 1:8 - And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice, Is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, Is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favorably?" Says the LORD of hosts.

27 Conclusion We MUST be a giving people. Notice there are no “fundraisers” in the Bible, this is because the ONLY way God has authorized the funding of His church or any of its works is through a free will offering collected upon the 1st day of the week.
