1 Welcome

2 I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say
1 I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto me and rest; lay down, O weary one, lay down your head upon my breast.”

3 I came to Jesus as I was, so weary, worn, and sad; I found him in a resting place, and he has made me glad.

4 2 I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold, I freely give the living water, thirsty one, stoop down and drink and live.”

5 I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life-giving stream; my thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him.

6 3 I heard the voice of Jesus say, “I am this dark world’s light; look unto me; your morn shall rise, and all your day be bright.”

7 I looked to Jesus, and I found in him my star, my sun; and in that light of life I’ll walk till traveling days are done.

8 Before the Throne of God Above
I have a strong and perfect plea A great high priest whose name is love Who ever lives and pleads for me

9 My name is graven on His hands My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heaven He stands No tongue can bid me thence depart

10 When satan tempts me to despair And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there Who made an end to all my sin

11 Because the sinless Savior died My sinful soul is counted free
For God the just is satisfied To look on Him and pardon me

12 Behold Him there the risen Lamb My perfect spotless righteousness
The great unchangeable I AM The King of glory and of grace

13 One with Himself I cannot die My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high With Christ my Savior and my God ***

18 There I’ll serve my King forever
When I stand in glory, I will see His face; There I’ll serve my King forever In that holy place.

19 and leaving Your Spirit ‘til the work on earth is done.
Thank You, oh my Father, for giving us Your Son, and leaving Your Spirit ‘til the work on earth is done.

20 Review: Jesus taught, warned, comforted – prepared – His men for His departure and their future ministry. He promised/provided resources to encourage, enable, equip… them/us.

21 Human beings are inadequate to understand the Bible or do spiritual work without the ministry of the Holy Spirit. But whoever is “born again” receives the Holy Spirit as his/her Helper.

22 The Spirit is key to what God, through Christ, is doing in the world.
It is impossible to do the work of God without the Spirit.

23 Relationships and Responsibilities for Believers

24 The Vine Jesus’ philosophy of Christian ministry.
He uses symbolism to convey this lesson: The Vine

25

26

27 John 15 Jesus points to the real source of spiritual success – Himself
What is the “fruit”?

28

29 What is the Fruit? Gal a But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Matt Making disciples Being Christ-like Rom 8.29

30 How do we abide? What does it mean? “remain” “make one’s home”
Jesus is instructing us to make Him our “home” as He makes His “home” in us.

31 Our Home Isn’t this what Jesus Christ should be for the Christian?
Shouldn’t He be our place of refuge and security, the source of our life and strength, the reason for our fellowship with others, where our heart is?

32 WHEN WE ABIDE IN CHRIST, WE REST IN HIS LOVE.
WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER. WE HAVE GREAT JOY. WE ARE NOT SILENCED BY THE HATRED OF THE WORLD.
