2. Summary
The Breadwinner is about a girl named Parvana that lives in Kabul, Afghanistan. Women are not allowed outside without a man and they must cover up every part of their body. Her family is poor so they do not have much to eat or drink. One day, the Taliban bursts through Parvana’s door and grabs her father. Parvana’s family is devastated. Parvana is forced to dress up as a boy and work for the family. She meets friends along the way and there are surprising twists to be found.

3. Characters
The characters that appear in this book are Parvana, her Mother, her Father, her older sister Nooria, her younger brother Ali and younger sister Maryam, and her mother’s friend Mrs.Weera.

4. I really think this book would be something that a lot of kids would enjoy. It is very exhilarating and there are some mysterious parts in the book. The breadwinner really teaches you about culture and how people in Afghanistan live their lives.
