3 History of Nottingham In Anglo-Saxon times Nottingham was called Tigguo Cobauc (Place of Caves). Conquered and renamed as Snot (Snottingham). City was captured 867 by vikings. Reconquered. Richard I and Robin Hood Industrial revolution (textile industry)

8 Robin Hood Robin Hood is a very known legend. He was an outlaw.
"robbing from the rich and giving to the poor" His fellow outlaws were called merry man He became a popular folk figure in the medieval period and he still is.

9 Robin Hood wasn`t always Robin Hood
Robin loved Lady Marian (Marian Fitzwalter). They wanted to marry. But on the day when they supposed to get married the wedding was interrupted by Sir Guy. His best friend was a man called John Little When he became an outlaw he decided to live in Sherwood forest. He was an archer. He also wanted to take part of an arching competition and so he did...

10 From free to an outlaw again
At the same time Marian escaped from home because Sir Guy wanted to merry her. She found Robin. King Richard returned and Robin and Marian got married. When the king died Robin became an outlaw again. Sir Guy stabbed him and he fell in jail. But his marry man helped him to escape.

11 Final arrow of Robin Hood
He was taken to abbey At his deathbed he made his friends to swear that they would not revenge for his death. He asked his bow and one arrow and he told his friend that where ever the arrow lands they have to bury him because Robin wanted to rest in green forest surrounded by trees, birds and deer...
