3 Our Purpose today is to Review graduation requirements (Yes Again)
Review college entrance requirements Discuss Career Cruising Process Answer your questions about classes etc. Friday we will be entering classes and conduct the student led conference. Be ready with a list of classes to load into Career Cruising.

4 Graduation Requirements
4 years Language Arts 3.0 years Social Studies 1.0 -US History 1 – 2 1.0-CWI Global or AP Euro. AP HUG, Soc, Econ 0.5 -Civics or AP US Gov and Pol SS Elect. 3 years Math -Algebra -Geometry -Adv. Algebra/Trig – or Cross Credit 1.5 years PE/Fitness .5 year Health 2 years Science (1 Lab, 1 Non-Lab) 1 year Occupational: CTE 1 year Performing & Fine Arts 7 credits Electives

5 Selected Cross Credit Math.
Any cross credit selection must complete an approval form with your counselor and your parent for this to count. Business & Personal Finance Electronics Engineering Design and Architecture Advanced Woodworking Advanced Auto Tech 1-2 Power, Energy and Transportation 1 and Advanced Computer Science

You need credits to graduate STATE TESTING REQUIREMENTS ELA Math EOC Alg. or Geo. Science EOC Biology Alternates include: SAT/ACT, AP, or COE class Complete a culminating project (Portfolio).

Based on Cumulative GPA at the end of the 1st semester of your senior year!!!! Cords GPA Teal and White – 4.000 Teal and Teal – 3.499

9 MINIMUM 4-YEAR STATE UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Language Arts/English 4 years Mathematics 3 years (including Advanced Algebra/Trig or beyond) Social Studies 3 years Science—2 years, one year of which must be lab science (WWU requires 2 years lab science, including one year chemistry or physics) World Language (same language) 2 years Fine, Visual, or Performing Arts 1 year

10 Request for a Counselor Recommendation
Recommendation/Secondary School Report Before a counselor can complete any recommendations or Secondary School Report the following items must be completed and returned to the counselor:

12 Counselor must have a minimum of two (2) weeks to complete the recommendation/form.
Counselors recommend that the student sign the waiver of right to see the recommendation. Doing this enhances the recommendation credibility on the part of the College/Scholarship. It is however, your choice.

Students are not able to always get their first choice in courses. Please enter alternates *Next year’s seniors will need to list 2 Alternate English classes

22 Things to think about… Running Start/Moving out of the district
Auto/Cosmetology Applications Have a full load of courses ready Friday to enter into the computer.

23 Things to think about… Keep in mind NCAA/NAIA requirements if you plan to play sports in college. Earn a GPA in core academic courses of at least 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale. Makes sure your selection of English classes are acceptable to the NCAA. (See Mr. Mead in the CC with questions)

24 COLLEGE BOUND ATHLETES - NCAA
Earn a GPA of at least 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale.) This GPA is calculated for only the core academic courses which were successfully completed during grades Only courses that have been approved by the Clearinghouse are accepted In addition, no special values are allowed for “+” or “-” grades. Core Units Required for NCAA Certification DII DI English Core years years Math Core *2 years *3 years Science Core years years Social Science Core years years English, Math, or Science 3 year year Additional Core years years (English, Math, Science, Social Science, Foreign Language, Philosophy, Non-doctrinal Religion) *Division I certification requires 1 year of Algebra and 1 year of Geometry (or a course for which Geometry is a prerequisite.) Foundations Mathematics does not count.
