1 Green Soles Adventure Club
Alaska Hiking Tours Green Soles Adventure Club

2 Hiking in nature’s wonderland at its best!

3 Introduction Popular hiking tour Length: 5 days in late July
5 hiking trails of various advanced difficulty Start from downtown Juneau Spectacular scenery Abundant wildlife While we have offered these tours between early July to late August, we find it best to book one tour during late July to ensure dry conditions and longer days for better views. Some of these trails can be dangerous and hazardous if wet conditions exist, and if we start too late in the morning, or take too long to come down. We warn everyone as well to stay with the group, and watch for the signs that are clearly marked on each trail, especially for Mt. McGinnis which is one not often hiked (most people tend to hike to view Mendenhall Glacier).

4 Alaska Hiking Trails Day Trail Name Total Miles Elevation
Time to Complete 1 Granite Creek 3.5 700 1.5 Hours 2 Mount Roberts* 4-9 3816 5-7 Hours 3 Mount Juneau 9 3576 7-8 Hours 4 Mt. McGinnis 5.5 3200 8-9 Hours 5 Mt. During the actual trip, a member can choose not to go on any one of these pre-planned trails even though the cost of that hiking trail is included in the overall cost for this Alaska trip. 5 Day 1: Granite Creek Downtown Juneau starting point
Perseverance Trail is historical trail Originally used by natives for goat hunting, fishing or berry picking Became first road in Alaska Joe Juneau and Richard Harris found gold in Silverbow Basin in 1880s Attractions include Old mining ruins, wildflowers, view of Ebner Falls There are two trails that have their starting point along the Perseverance Trail: Mount Juneau and Granite Creek Trail is 3.5 miles (one-way), approximately 1.5 hours at elevation of 700 feet. Start with Granite Creek as it gets everyone prepared for the more challenging Mount Juneau Trail Also helps if weather is not so good initially, as the terrain can become very dangerous and hazardous quickly in wet weather conditions (see note from travel guide regarding how the right side of Perseverance Trail is steep and precarious) Return to table

13 For more resources: We used the following sites in our research prior to booking with Tolano mountains.asp?cid=1023 This is a partial list Baradoch used in his research on hiking trails for Alaska. This information gave him a good idea of what most vendors were offering and from these, he went to Tolano Adventures to have them set up a tour that would meet all the requirements that Green Soles members expect in a tour. After some feedback, this is when Baradoch decided this may be the best trip to offer new members so they can get a “taste” of what Green Soles has to offer for future trips.
