Grade 9 Team Mission Statement
The grade 9 team provides an academically focused environment through a team teaching philosophy within the grade 9 core subjects. This promotes academic growth and student responsibility. It provides opportunities for students to connect to the community of SCCHS and their classmates. This then aids students in preparing for the demands of grade 10 credit attainment. Teacher One – read the mission Teacher Two – Explains how the it has been working

Grade 9 Structure The structure of grade 9 at SCCHS is a team-teaching situation where students will have 2 teachers that are responsible for teaching English Language Arts, Math, History and Science. These four subjects are provided during the first three periods of each day. To support this structure, each team has a student services counsellor, an administrator and a resource teacher designated to the team. Teacher One and Teacher Two

Student Connection Student involvement and connection to the school is an important aspect of the grade 9 team. SCCHS grade nines come from a number of different schools, which creates 9 classrooms within SCCHS. Duane We have approximately 975 students, 55 teachers, and 53 support staff fit into 300,000sqft. Grade 12’s….Where are we going to hide? We want the grade nine experience to be positive and these are the most intimating features when you get to the SCCHS

Student Connection These connections are established through 5 different areas. These areas include the general classroom, classroom teams, extra-curricular teams and clubs, and grade special events. Extra-curricular sports are a significant contributor to student connections. There are grade 9 specific teams in volleyball and basketball. As well, the grade 9’s are encouraged to participate in football, badminton, wrestling, soccer and track, just to name a few. Teacher:
