VIRTUAL INTELLIGENCE PROJECT NATAL (Kinect & Xbox 360)

Virtual Intelligence Virtual intelligence (VI) are programs that make intelligent decisions based on the virtual environments built around them, or merely interact with their environments in some manner. Intersection of two technologies:- 1) Artificial intelligence 2) Virtual Environment

It includes: games playing: programming computers to play games such as chess and checkers expert systems : programming computers to make decisions in real-life situations (for example, some expert systems help doctors diagnose diseases based on symptoms) natural language : programming computers to understand natural human languages robotics : programming computers to see and hear and react to other sensory stimuli

Virtual environment Immersive 3D spaces provide for collaboration and role playing interactions for training. It combines motor and visual information in an effective way that helps optimize performance when people interact with virtual environments.

Current projects: 1.Locomotion interfaces: A locomotion device allowing a user to walk in a relatively normal manner without significant change in actual location. For eg. treadmills. 2.Scientific visualization: It has 3-dimensional dispalys and provides realistic view of the physical space.

Project NATAL Microsoft's new motion-control Project Natal : the virtual-person game known as Milo. Basically, Project Natal is motion detection device. It can also has facial recognition, voice recognition, and many other things that are exciting. Just imagine walking up to your TV, and always having a virtual friend waiting to see and talk to you.

Project NATAL The women draws an image on a piece of paper, holds it up to ‘Natal’, and Milo reaches for the paper and produces his own piece of paper in the virtual world and knows what colour pen you’ve used!!!!

Technologies used Kinect XBOX 360

XBOX 360 The Xbox is a sixth-generation video game console manufactured by Microsoft. The Xbox 360 had superior storage, audio and video capabilities compared to the original Xbox. Supports a limited number of the Xbox's game library through emulation. Quick release of the Xbox 360 on November 22, 2005

Hardware The Xbox controller features two analog sticks, a pressure sensitive directional pad, two analog triggers, a Back button, a Start button, two accessory slots and six 8-bit analog action buttons . 8 MB removable solid state memory card

Technological Specification
CPU: 32-bit 733 MHz Floating point SIMD 32 KB cache Shared memory subsystem

Storage media. Audio processor: NVIDIA "MCPX" 64 3D sound channels DVD movie playback Integrated 10/100BASE-TX wired ethernet

Kinect Kinect for Xbox 360, is a "controller-free gaming and entertainment experience" by Microsoft for the Xbox 360.. Enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller, through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images. Was launched in North America on November 4, 2010, in Europe on November 10, 2010, in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore on November 18, 2010 and in Japan on November 20, 2010.

Cont………. Kinect sensor's microphone array enables the Xbox 360 to conduct acoustic source localization and ambient noise suppression. Allowing for things such as headset-free party chat over Xbox Live. Enables advanced gesture recognition, facial recognition, and voice recognition.

Cont……… Kinect sensor outputs video at a frame rate of 30 Hz, with the RGB video stream. Practical ranging limit of 1.2–3.5 meters An angular field of view of 57° horizontally and a 43° vertically
