For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 1 John 2:16 NIV Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Delighted Elated Gratified Honored Confident Content Happy Pleased Grateful Thrilled Satisfied Expectant

6 God was Proud: The moment Jesus came up out of the baptismal waters, the skies opened up and he saw God’s Spirit— it looked like a dove—descending and landing on him. Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children. Proverbs 17:6 NIV I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry. Romans 11:13 NIV I have spoken to you with great frankness; I take great pride in you. 10 Benefits of Humility: The Lord SUSTAINS the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. Psalm 147:6 NIV For the Lord TAKES DELIGHT in His people; He CROWNS the humble with VICTORY. Psalm 149:4 NIV He mocks proud mockers but shows FAVOR to the humble and oppressed. Proverbs 3:34 NIV Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will FIND REST for your souls. Matthew 11:29 NIV

11 The POWER of Humility: And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Not needing to prove yourself or brag Humility sets self-focus aside for service to others If you can’t love yourself you can’t truly love others

13 The Damage from False Humility:
We often pick up false signals from others and don’t process them correctly. (Rosa) When others impose false humility on us, we don’t see ourselves as powerful, but unworthy, a doormat, etc.
