3 Notable phrases Begins with the phrase, “When in the course of human events…” Includes the phrase: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights".

4 What is the Duty of the People?
The Declaration states that it is the right and duty of a people who to overthrow the government and change the system if the government takes away their rights.

5 Unalienable Rights Unalienable rights are rights that cannot be taken away. The unalienable rights in the Declaration of Independence are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

6 Who Rules? Gives the power of rule to the people.

7 Grievances Most of the Declaration deals with grievances against the king.
