6 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
February 2009: in direct response to the banks on the verge of foreclosure, Congress passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 or the "stimulus package." Four days later, the President signed the Recovery Act into law. The three immediate goals of the Recovery Act were: Create new jobs and save existing ones Spur economic activity and invest in long-term growth Foster accountability and transparency in government spending The Recovery Act intended to achieve those goals by providing funding for: Tax cuts for working families and businesses entitlement programs, such as unemployment benefits Funding for federal contracts, grants and loans

Affordable Care Act or “OBAMAcare”, actually refers to two pieces of legislation: Affordable Care Act and Heath Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. ALL Americans must be covered by insurance “Individual Mandate” Employers must offer coverage to employees “Children” can remain on parents’ plan until 26 Insurance Plans must cover basic services such as: Prescription Drugs Maternity Care Emergency Services
