If it is raining, children may come in from 8.30 as a teacher will be supervising. Please note, children are not allowed into the classroom unless supervised.

Year 3 Topics In Year 3, we study the ancient civilisations of Egypt, Greece and Rome. This influences the Art we do and some of the DT projects. We also investigate the weather, design a dream classroom and complete a car parking project – to find more spaces here at Stroud. In Science, we look at materials and their properties, rocks, plants, teeth and healthy eating, magnets and springs and light and shadows.
12
Children will be taught Music, ICT, Games, Drama
and French by specialist teachers. This will also involve children moving around the school site into different classrooms. As the children move around the site more in Middle School – it makes it even more important to have every item labelled clearly with their name. Lost property – if you are missing any items, please feel free to write it up on the board in the year 3 cloakroom
13
Extras and Clubs In addition to the curriculum, many of your children do a wealth of extra lessons and clubs. We help children to get to these activities, but will be expecting them to become more independent in this as the year progresses.
14
* Homework is to take no longer than 30 mins
Reading (10 minutes every day) Please record page numbers in the reading record book and write a brief comment Times tables – regular practice Homework Monday Maths/English consolidation work or topic work * due in on Wednesday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday English skills – spelling, comprehension or grammar * due in on Monday We see homework as a chance for children to practice doing a little bit of work at home and remembering to bring it back to school – as this is something they will be expected to do more and more as they move up the school – not something for them to agonise over. * Homework is to take no longer than 30 mins
