6 Zoetrope - an optical toy, in which figures made to revolve on the inside of a cylinder, and viewed through slits in its circumference, appear like a single figure passing through a series of natural motions as if animated or mechanically moved. 180 AD

7 Phenakistoscope - a device consists of cardboard disc showing a progressions of slightly differing images, and a series of slits cut a regular intervals. The toy is made to rotate around a central hinge. The resulting rapid succession of figures creates the illusion of a single moving image. 1831
