FIGURE 1 Childhood behavioral inhibition (BI) is associated with significantly increased risk for developing social anxiety disorder (SAD). Note: For each study, the odds ratio (OR), lower and upper 95% confidence intervals, z statistic, and p value are presented. The overall meta-analyses values are presented at the bottom, and the effect sizes for each study and the overall analysis are presented in the forest plot at the far right. FIGURE S1 Behavioral inhibition (BI) was found to be associated with significantly increased risk for developing social anxiety disorder (SAD), even after each study was removed individually from the analysis. Note: For each study, the point estimate represents the overall odds ratio (OR) for all of the studies without that one study. This analysis provides an assessment of the impact of each study to the overall odds ratio. Removing a study with significant impact on the overall odds ratio would reduce the point estimate to close to 1 and would produce a nonsignificant p value. The forest plot at the far right shows the overall ORs with each study removed. FIGURE S2 Funnel plot indicates no evidence of publication bias in this meta-analysis. Note: Each dot represents each study included in the meta-analysis, plotted with log odds ratio (OR) on the x-axis and standard error on the y-axis.
