5 Zimbabwe Fun Facts The country’s life expectancy, 46 for men and 45 for women, is one of the lowest in the world. This is attributed to poverty and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Although there has been a noticeable decline in HIV/AIDS population, Zimbabwe is still battling with poverty. Zimbabwe acknowledges two types of marriage: customary marriage, which can be polygamous in nature, and civil marriage, which is characteristically monogamous. To Zimbabweans, a big stomach among men is a sign of wealth. It implies that they can afford meat daily. Zimbabwe is believed to be the location of Ophir, the ancient wealthy country from which King Solomon got ivory, gold, and such other precious items.

7 Madagascar Fun Facts Most of Madagascar’s wildlife is found nowhere else on Earth. Among its extinct mammals were giant flightless birds and dwarf hippos. Lemurs are viewed as sacred. Across Madagascar, lemurs are often revered and protected by cultural taboo.  Queen Ranavalona III, the last sovereign of the Kingdom of Madagascar before France took over, ruled from 1883 to before being deposed by French colonial forces.
