11 The Foundation Studies Enrollment lists for the courses (R/W 083, R/W 093, Math 083, and Math 093) were used to compile the data.  The number of students that have met the requirements to pass the course determined the Foundation Studies Pass rate. The number of students that did not meet the requirement to pass the class determined the fail rate. The number of students that attended the full 15 weeks and did not withdraw determined the completion rate. The withdrawal rate is the number of students that withdrew from the course during the semester.

25 College Academy of Readiness
Summer Program

26 There are different pathways for each student and it depends on where they are assessed by the College Readiness Assessment (Accuplacer).

27 The summer program is designed to give students at both the 083 and 093 levels the opportunity to move forward into the next level of their education. Students must participate in the program for the full duration of the program and move forward one level from where they begin in order to be eligible for the scholarship

29 Recuitment December 2015 through May 2016
The Foundational Studies Department and the Enrollment Management Office recruited students from December 2015 through May 2016 to participate in Accuplacer preparation sessions for fall 2016 entry into Oglala Lakota College. A total of five sessions were held testing a total of 103 high school students. During this time period 39 GED students, and 136 high school graduates were also tested for placement. A total of 279 students were tested for placement in the 083 and 093 levels during the period.

30 Of the students who took advantage of the early recruitment and testing a total of 66 (24%) were determined college level in Reading and 89 (32%) in math. A total of 9 (3%) were placed in RW 083A, 82 (29%) in RW 083B, 122 (44%) in RW 093, 30 (11%) in Math 083A, 73 (26%) in Math 083B and 87 (31%) in Math It must be noted that students can be placed in college level courses or remedial courses in either area and in multiple situations. For example a student can test in to ENG 103 and Math 083 or Test into RW 083a and Math 093, etc.

32 Summer Participation In review of the data OLC found that new entering students and existed students chose to participate in the program. Seventy four students were initially registered for the summer program. Of the 74 students 69 participants had not withdrawn as of the first day. Of 69 students in the CARS program for the summer 27 (39%) were new students who were part of the early recruitment phase in December 2015-May A total of 42(61%) existing students participated. The existing students were previously enrolled in the fall 2015/spring 2016 semester or previous semesters.

33 69 Initial Participants In total there were 69 participants that initially enrolled in the CARS program for the summer as of the first day of classes. Initially a total of four 083a, four 083b, and three 093 offered. A total of two sections of RW 083A and three sections of RW O83B, and three sections RW 093 made. A total of four 4 sections of Math 083, and 3 sections Math 093 courses offered and 100% made in June of 2016. Of the students that entered and either remained for the duration or withdrew after the start of the program the data shows that three students (7%) of the students placed in this course enrolled in RW 083A, 17 (38%) enrolled in RW 083B, and 24 (55%) enrolled RW 093. Students placed in 093 are considered college level students, however, the students were allowed to enter to try and get into college level courses by fall 2016 (ENG 103).

34 STUDENTS WHO PLACE INTO THE NEXT LEVEL:
RW093 Level students who place into the English 103 course have the opportunity to participate in the OLC JumpStart Summer Bridge Program. In the fall the student will be considered a full college student with no limitations on classes and are PELL Eligible. RW083B Level students who place into RW093 are now PELL eligible. They may now take RW093 and may take up to 9 additional credit hours from the list of approved classes. RW083A Level students who place into RW083B are Non-PELL eligible, but may take advantage of the CARF program in the fall. The student may only take the RW083 and the Math083 course if they have placed into that course as well.
