3 On-line Volunteer Database
Helping Agencies and People Find Each Other Agencies People We need volunteers! We want to volunteer! On-line Database: Agencies PUT IN information about what they need, in a way that’s easy to “search” People SEARCH FOR information about what they want People APPLY for positions they want Agencies SELECT (“hire”) people that fit

4 Searching for what you want
You don’t want to read hundreds of volunteer position descriptions. Tutor 3rd graders, Bloomington, a.m. Care for animals, Minneapolis, Sat. Deliver campaign lit, St. Paul, evenings Greet hospital visitors, Woodbury 954. Repair homes, days, summer only

5 Filter You only want to read those that fit your
interests, skills and availability. You enter “filters” (also called criteria or preferences). EXAMPLE: medical field weekends no more than 10 miles from my home

6 Narrowed search When you use filters, it “refines” the search and gives you only those that fit for you. Greet hospital visitors, Woodbury, Sat.-Sun. 23. Play games with nursing home residents, evenings/weekends, St. Paul 422. Help with filing in community clinic, varied, Minneapolis 579. Educate youth about risks of smoking, Sat., St. Paul

7 More information Read the title of each volunteer position.
Click on each position that interests you. You’ll get more information about the position and how to apply.

8 Getting the position Find a position you want.
Apply on-line or contact the agency directly. They will usually interview you. You can also ask questions of them. If it’s a good fit, you’re “hired”!

9 Result: The perfect match!

10 Good luck!
