FIGURE 1 Combined Nebuhaler-PEP-mask, which is constructed from a 750-ml volume conespacer (Nebuhaler) connected to a facemask with a T-tube for separation of inspiratory and expiratory airflow by a valve. Variable resistances can be applied onto the expiratory tube as connections of different diameters. A positive airway pressure will in this way be present only during expiration.
